Thank you for your interest in the lab! Dr. Batky plans to recruit one graduate student during the current cycle to start in Fall 2027. You may email bbatky@unr.edu with any questions you have about the lab. However, please note that reaching out prior to applying is not required and does not impact review of applications.
FAQ:
What types of projects would a student be involved with? What are the current research directions in the lab?
The current projects described on this site and Dr. Batky's Google Scholar page and publication list provide a good representation of the types of research projects that are ongoing in the lab: https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=Mb6cnQEAAAAJ&hl=en
Are there any particular skills you would like a student to have? What are you looking for?
Interests that align well with lab projects, quantitative research experience, independent research experience and potential, and ability to think creatively and critically about research are highly valued.
Students are not necessarily expected to pursue specific questions and are able to pursue their interests as long as those broadly align with research directions in the lab.
Specific experiences with various programming languages/software, psychophysiological data collection, particular statistical techniques, etc. are not required and often do not substantially impact review of applications.
Can I schedule a phone or video call to discuss the lab?
Given the large volume of applicant inquiries received each year, it is unfortunately not possible to schedule calls about the lab in order to ensure the process is equitable. Dr. Batky is however very willing to provide answers to questions over email.
